Concept Smoke Screen, as it is known today, was established in 1990 by Carl Gibbard and Steve Gilmartin, however its history can be traced back over 40 years, when it was responsible for designing, manufacturing and installing the first ever security smoke system in order to protect gold bullion in specialised vaults. Today this dynamic company’s main role is to design, manufacture, supply, install and support security smoke systems, a useful tool for anyone at risk from loss. The system is currently installed in many different types of outlet ranging from corner shops to massive, modern distribution centres.

35 years ago no-one could see a place for security smoke systems – Concept did. As a result, security smoke is now an accepted part of the anti-burglary, loss-prevention armoury with its own European and International Standard (EN 50131-8 and IEC 62642-8).

Secured By Design: An accreditation awarded by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO)

Independently tested as demonstrating compliance with BS 7939:1999. The tests were conducted by the Building Research Establishment, one of Europe’s most revered testing houses.

We have in our employ the only BSI accredited UK experts on security smoke systems. We formed the UK representation on the Working Group who drew up EN50131:8, the European standard for security smoke. The Concept team comprises professionals experienced in this niche industry, in fact in the security industry as a whole and our engineers are all fully accredited and qualified.
