About
We are the original makers of the famous Royal Sussex Trug Garden Basket. We offer two Collections of Trug, the Royal Sussex Traditional made using Sweet Chestnut and Cricket Bat Willow woods and the South Down Modern Trug, which is made from Finnish & Latvian Birch ply. All woods come from sustainable resources. We have lots of different Trugs to choose from in our shop and online First incorporated in 1829 as Thomas Smith & Son Limited our Trugs were made famous when Queen Victoria purchased some at The Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, Lonmdon in 1851 on the first day of the show. Our company was subsequently awarded Queen Victoria's Royal Warrant.

The owner of our company has over 29 years of experience in the making of the Sussex Trug and his staff number 3 skilled craftsmen, one of whom is a Master Trug Maker. We have over 35 years of exporting experience and all of our customers can be assured of a smooth export service.
