My name is David Stocks. I am a Senior Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. I help people with emotional problems such as anxiety, sadness, anger, hurt and pain. I also help people who are slimming (or at least trying to lose weight) and also those with eating disorders.

Many of my clients have been hurt in the past. They may have been abused (physically, emotionally or sexually) or may come from an unhappy or unloving family background.

Services

Many conditions have their roots in the Unconscious Mind. We have all had things happen to us that we wish had not happened. Often, we “repress” these memories - we don’t process them properly. Some such events really are major, like childhood abuse, but most are pretty minor in retrospect. The majority of repressed memories are from childhood, when even falling out with a friend can seem like the end of the world. Repressed memories are largely hidden from our Conscious Mind but become more visible to our Unconscious Mind, the part of us that feels emotions. They therefore affect how we feel.

We can develop a number of psychological problems as a result, including low confidence and self-esteem, anxieties and phobias, panic attacks, other debilitating fears and even develop sexual problems. Sufferers may become fixated on food.

Using Hypnosis, I help you to deal with repressed memories. This can feel as if a great weight has been lifted from your shoulders. Everyone is different, and some people benefit more than others. I cannot make you stop snacking, for example, but most people can be helped to slim, and, very importantly, to stay slim.

There is nothing weird or mysterious about the hypnotic state. It is a totally natural state. It is a state of deep relaxation during which the analytical mind shuts off - making the Unconscious Mind accessible. A better word for it would be daydreaming because when you are daydreaming, you are effectively in hypnosis! I simply give you nice things to daydream about.
