About

Creative Encounters training workshops are a fun and interactive way of developing practical and intuitive creative thinking skills and attitudes. Creative Encounters was established by Simon Jack to bring fun and interactive creativity training and learning experiences to all audiences, from business people to school children. The ‘encounters’ are run in a lively style, providing opportunities to practice creative thinking skills and grow in confidence, ready to improve ideas on a day to day basis.

Services

The world is moving faster. Competition is getting fiercer. We all have the ability to fight back with new and improved ideas but not always the know-how. This is where creative encounters can help.

Creative Encounters takes all the seriousness of the approaches to creative thinking and organisational change but puts a great deal of fun and personality behind it. We make training events sizzle! We believe people learn best when they are enjoying themselves and lessons are taken in organically. Learning new skills shouldn’t be tough, dry or heaven forbid boring. We promote learning through doing... And remembering through doing differently.

Below is an overview of the range of specific Creative Encounters workshop formats that have been structured to provide different angles on creativity training for organisations.

Creatures of Habit. In this session, we focus on why our habitual thinking patterns can stifle creativity at work and how we can snap out of them to produce new ideas. As we run through the habits, we play a variety of games and exercises that allow participants to experience and explore new skills and reinforce their creative confidence. This session can easily be adapted to provide anywhere from a 2hr to a 2 day event and is ideal for all audiences, from people who are just discovering creativity to the regular ideas people. We can even bring along some exciting live animals to make the workshop really unique!

Eye to Eye (Ideas to Innovation). Yes, yes it’s the wrong type of eye, but that’s what creativity is all about- using ambiguity and different logic to come up with new solutions. Making innovation work is often like navigating a mine-field of people that don’t necessarily see eye to eye. So in this session we look at the entire process of commercialising creativity from- yes, you guessed it- ideas to innovation. We run through a range of practical and fun idea generation techniques as well as evaluation methods. In particular, we look at the cultural aspects of innovation and how to foster a more productive innovation culture within your organisation. This workshop lasts a day at the minimum and is ideal for range of people that are involved in growing your business through new and better approaches (we believe this is absolutely everyone but then again, are probably biased!).

Funny Business. Comedy and creativity are very close relatives. In this session we look at how humour can spur on creativity and why adding humour to work can produce great results. Creativity is not the only benefit- done right, a lighthearted approach can increase staff satisfaction, productivity and retention. We run through a series of games whereby we learn how to generate humour in typical work situations and extract the goods in order to make it applicable to your business. It’s not stand up comedy or learning how to be hilarious but instead simple techniques to help lighten up certain aspects of business and foster a more innovative culture. We are also able to place particular focus on using humour for communications. This can be anywhere from more inspiring and memorable emails and newsletters to full on advertising campaigns.

Fly on the Wall. You bring the challenges, we bring the techniques and energisation (yes it’s now a word) to get everyone creating brand new ideas. This is your ideas session, we just facilitate and make sure it lives up to its potential. It is recommended this activity is split across 2 sessions: one for ideas and another for evaluation- you never want to be mixing the two!
