About
Calderdale School of Motoring was formed about 30 years ago. Nigel Flather took over (name only) about 20 years ago. Nigel was qualified as an instructor in 1977 and has worked at the top of the profession ever since. He was one of the first instructors to gain the Diploma in Driving Instruction in 1987.
Nigel went on to pass the Diamond Advanced Driving Test which led to becoming a Diamond Advanced Trainer/Examiner.
He qualified as a DSA Fleet Registered Instructor.
Nigel is a grade 6 instructor (straight sixes). Grade 6 is the highest grade awarded by the DSA, only about 7% of instructors operate at this level and straight sixes are as common as parrots teeth.
Calderdale School of Motoring is a one man business and offers a range of services the mainstay being basic learner tuition.
Services
For prospective learner drivers this driving school offers high quality tuition (pass rate- 93%) This driving school has been established for many years and reliant on referrals. To stay in business for long periods realistic pricing policies must be followed. This driving school remains out of the cut price culture prevailing the industry, this culture is detrimental to road safety by favouring the lower qualified 'here today- gone tomorrow' instructor who may be a few pounds cheaper but are much less qualified, much less reliable and produces limited life skills.
Driving Instructor Training is another speciality. Offering full or partial training in the 3 elements.
Check Test Training offers coaching to existing instructors wishing to remain on the register or to gain a higher grade after an unsuccessful check test result.
